Back at last
Finally managed to log back into blog after years away. Much has happened. Buster was put to sleep March 8th 2015 after getting cancer 3 times. I'm still not over it now and it's June 2016. Dainty had one tumor removed but hers didn't return. Buster had two removed and was losing loads of weight. He suffered after the operations and was becoming more aggressive. Angela decided she didn't want him operated on a third time and he lasted about 5 months. On the Saturday he was put on strong painkillers but Sunday the 8th was a nightmare. I woke to find Buster at the end of the bed covered in blood. At some time in the night the cancer had burst or Buster had ripped it open. I contacted Helen and Graham and they came over. While waiting for them I gave Buster his painkillers and cooked some kippers for a treat for him. He wasn't bleeding much but the wait was a nightmare. I got his lead out and took him for a last walk up the road. He was good on the way up but on the way back it was on a slack lead with him struggling. We then got in Grahams car and went to the vets in Poole. The wait was horrid because Buster was obviously in pain and couldn't lie down. I held him tight and tried to make it easy for him. We went in and the vet told us that he could patch him up but it probably would keep happening now. I didn't want him suffering any more and the vet agreed. I asked Buster to get back on the table and he tried the climb up. I lifted his bum and he was up. They clipped a little patch on his leg and put the injection in. When he'd gone I took his collar off and left my heart behind. We had him cremated and I have his ashes in a little wooden casket.
