Hospital

Weather been cold and wet for a while so not managed many walks with the dogs. On the 26th Ang collapsed and had a fit. I rang NHS direct who advised she went to casualty. Had to call an ambulance as I couldn’t leave the dogs. She got admitted and stayed in til the evening of the 29th. Martine came over on the 27th and I managed to get in and visit while Martine dog sat. Ang is eating since she came home and been prescribed vitamin supplements. She’s in a lot of pain from her back where she fell when she fitted. She’s got painkillers for it and I’m making her a hot water bottle when she wants to put on it which helps she says. There were loads of swans at the backwaters on the 28th but the fields are really soaked at the minute from all the rain. Today I managed 3 walks. Once behind the railway track, one long one around the fields and alongside the hill at the backwaters and finally down to ham common. It’s a cold wind today but at least no rain. Hopefully nothing else will go wrong this year.

Getting better

Ang is feeling better today. She saw her own doctor last week and he prescribed morphine, inhalers and antibiotics for her. Finally today she has gone most of the day without morphine. She slept last night as well for the first night. She’s been waking up every few hours up til last night. I managed to slip over on the ice yesterday. Buster was barking at someone and pulling and he managed to pull me over. I hurt both hands and my right elbow. Luckily it was nothing major. Dogs are hardly getting any walks lately because of the weather. Rain and hail today so only managed one walk but not until nearly 3. Dogs are getting fed up and asking to play ball all the time.

Winter butterfly

Went to hospital for an appointment last Wednesday and on the way to the train station I got bombarded by a red admiral butterfly. Totally amazed that one was still around but it was an almost spring like day. Weather has changed quite a bit since then. Ang had to get a doc out Sunday as her breathing was so bad and I had to take a prescription to Asda in Poole. Chemist messed up Ang’s repeat prescription today and we only just managed to get the doctor to write her one in time before the chemist shut. I’m suffering from a really horrible cold at the minute. My eyes are streaming as well as my nose. Not nice.

Tomorrow

Ang been drinking heavy since her vodka. She got a litre bottle after the first bottle so it’s been a bad week for her. Yesterday she took two lots of medication during the day and was in a right state after the second lot on the evening. She fell over in the bathroom and banged her head on the sewage pipe under the sink. After I got her up she fell against the corner of the bed and hurt her back. I got up this morning and she went back to bed. When I got back this morning from the first walk she got up and she’d got a black eye. She says today that she can’t go on like this and is not going to drink after today. I don’t know if she’ll do it but she’ll really hurt herself soon if she doesn’t stop. God knows what state her liver is in. She’s so thin from not eating as well. I’m supposed to give up smoking if she gives up booze. I’ve got patches so roll on tomorrow.

An evening out

Ang and I went to the Gurkha restaurant on Poole quay on Thursday with Helen and Graham. Lee came over and dog sat for us and we caught the train to Poole at 6.36. It was raining when we got to Poole so we took a taxi. The taxi driver put us off going by saying she hadn’t heard any good reviews about the place. We were early so went in and got a table and a drink each. I had a sweet and salty mango lasey and Ang had a mineral water. Helen rang at 7 and said they were just parking. There were only a couple of other tables occupied so it was quite quiet. We decided to start eating so went up and helped ourselves. There was a really good selection and Graham and I started off with chicken and sweetcorn soup. Afterwards I had two plates full of various dishes including a to die for Nepalese chicken curry. Everyone else went back for seconds and had a slice of gateaux and cream to finish off with. Finally Ang had a French coffee, I had an Irish coffee, Graham had a coffee and Helen had a cup of tea. Everyone was well happy and we called for the bill. To our surprise a round of complimentary drinks was brought to us. Baileys for the ladies and whiskey for Graham and me. Helen offered to drop us home so we went to the car park and another bonus was there was no charge for parking the car. We phoned Lee to let him know we’d be back in 20 minutes and got home about ten to 9. Helen and Graham didn’t come in and the first job I had to do was get the dogs out for a wee and get them fed. They had been really good for Lee and he had a coffee and then went on.
When we got back we told Lee about it and said we’d recommend it to anyone.
Saturday Ang went over to see Martine. I had a quiet day and got the dogs out for two walks. I took them behind the railway track to keep them clean for a day. The third walk was rained off. Ang got a bottle of vodka today and got really tearful after half of it. She then took her medication and fell asleep on my sofa.

Repairs

The heating and hot water packed up last night so had to cancel meeting Jane in Poole so could wait in for engineer to arrive. I got dogs out for first walk after reporting heating and bathroom sink being blocked to the council. Shortly after I got back heating engineer arrived and sorted it out in about 10 minutes. I tried to get dogs out for their second walk about 12 and Dainty was limping on her back right leg. I tried her 3 more times every half hour before we managed to get down to the backwaters about 2.30. Hopefully she’s just having a bad day today and she’ll be better tomorrow. Ang is not good at the minute because she was up 3 times in the night. Hopefully she’ll be better tomorrow. The drain bloke arrived in the afternoon and sorted it out in about 20 minutes. I wasn’t expecting him to arrive for a few days.

Bonfire recession

Fireworks this year weren’t too bad. Not that many going off although they were about for 3 nights. Had some success taking dogs outside on the lead to try and get them used to them. I took Dainty for her injection a week last Monday with Joan’s help. Dainty had a bit of a relapse for two days on the Tuesday and Wednesday. A few days later she had a complete change in mood and seems much happier again. On the Saturday before her injection we planted a tree that had sprouted in the front garden over by the hay meadow. We checked on it over the last week and it seems to be doing pretty well. Ang stopped drinking during the days about a week ago. Got a delivery from Sainsbury’s today and Helen and Graham dropped a bed over for Ang. They stayed for about an hour. We only managed 2 walks today as the weather was rubbish this morning. It was raining and cold.

Dentists

Had to go to Wareham for a dental check up today. Came out the surgery with a mouthful of blood after having a descale. Was not happy anyway because I burnt one of my fingers yesterday so more pain didn’t help. Ang been drinking for about a week. She can’t seem to stop these days. Having to do all the dog walks on my own which is a bit near wracking. Managed to get to the boat beach and Ham Common yesterday and have been to the boat beach today. Buster brought a ball back from Ham Common that he managed to get out the water. When it first floated by he barked at it and was nervous of it till I told him it was a ball. Unusually he went into deep water for it. As soon as he’d got it he wanted to go home. When we got back he spent the rest of the day carrying it around. He tried to bring it to bed on the night time so I had to put it out the way. Today he asked for it as soon as we got up. Very strange.

Dainty's relapse

A week Friday I took Dainty back to the vets because she was having problems again. Joan met me at Parkstone station and drove me over. Dainty has to go back monthly for a Cartophen injection. Today it’s very damp and Dainty is suffering a bit. Both walks so far today she’s been reluctant to go and sat down when we first go out. Took them over to the bird hide earlier and headed for the spit across the two gullies but the tide was too high to get across. Dainty dived into a flooded piece while Buster looked on in disgust. Ang was up most of last night and as a consequence I had a disturbed night. Feeling not too bad today though which is really surprising as I usually feel rubbish when don’t get a proper nights sleep.

Too many strangers.

Dainty has improved about 3 days after her last painkiller. So long as she doesn’t do too much the previous day she’s fine. She had her assessment and they want to see her again after 2 weeks. Luckily Joan can still take me. Ang went to Poole on the 1st to get her hair cut. She’s really chuffed with it. Went to Martines to try and sort her computer out. Failed. Tried to contact brother but he can’t do anything for a few days. Ang been drinking since she had to have a drink before going to get her hair cut. I had to tell her to leave on the evening of the second. She came back the next day so I could go to the doctors to get a specimen bottle. Completely freaked out in doctors but thankfully managed to grab right testing kit. Did sample this morning and took back to doctor’s surgery. Don’t know when result will come in. I picked Ang’s medication up at same time as dropped specimen off at doctors. Thankfully Ang has crashed out so it’s quite peaceful at the minute and I’m able to get on with something on the computer.

The best Indian

Nothing much happened in last few weeks. Ang went on a vodka binge for a week. She sobered up by my birthday and we got her sister over so we could go out. We took the train to Wareham and had the best Indian we’ve had in the Monsoon by Wareham station. Dainty has been on painkillers for a week and has to go back this coming Thursday to be checked. I’ve stopped her painkillers today so we can judge the injections as to whether they have worked. She seemed to get some relief this week but today first thing she was her worst stopping ever few for 8 or 9 times. Have got to have a blood test in 6 weeks time which I’m absolutely dreading. Seems every time I see my doctor he wants me to have a blood test.

Three more vets visits.

Dainty recovered well from the adder bite and the swelling went after about 5 days. She started going out on walks after a couple of days and all was fine for a week. On one of her walks she managed to get a grass seed in her ear so ended up at the PDSA again. She stayed in for a couple of hours and my friend Dave picked me up from Bournemouth station to fetch her and dropped me back. About a week later Buster acted as if he had something in his ear so I took him. He ended up with two lots of tablets and ear drops for a bad ear infection. He went back for a check-up on Monday and I got a train to Parkstone with him. My friend Joan picked us up there and drove us over and back to Parkstone station. The vet gave us more ear drops and antibiotics. Dainty has to go tomorrow and Joan has agreed to do it again. Dainty is going to have her hips checked out as she seems to be having problems with her back legs every now and again. I went to Dentists yesterday but thankfully just needed a clean. Managed to visit the old couple that helped us contact the vets when Dainty got bit by the adder today on out second walk. We dropped off a box of quality street as a thank you which made the woman beam.

Yet more vets

On Sunday we decided to go to mucky pond on the far side of Lychett Bay from us. We got to the beach there about 11 and waited for the tide to come in. Buster stayed close and Dainty went off ferreting in the grass. After about half an hour she came down to a patch on the beach. I was watching her when she jumped back and shook her head. I called her over and after spotting a puncture wound on her nose we packed up quickly and started to head back. After a couple of minutes I had to pick Dainty up because she wouldn’t walk.
We got back to the road and I went to a house and got them to get the emergency vet number for me. They were brilliant. I then phoned a taxi and got us all in and dropped Ang and Buster off at mine then went on to Castle Lane where the emergency clinic is. Dainty stayed in over night and had loadsa morphine and steroids. I picked her up in a taxi at about 6.45 this morning and then took her to our vets a bit later. They gave her another steroid injection and then I brought her home again.
Her face and neck are very swollen which the vets says will last 3 or 4 days. I examined her collar earlier and there is more room under it now so looks like it is starting to go down. She’s very quiet but has been out and had a wee. She’s eaten a small amount of chicken and a few titbits. She hasn’t drunk yet but she’s sleepy from the morphine.
With taxi’s and emergency vet somewhere in the region of £400.
All thanks to an adder

Vets again

A couple of weeks ago ended up with loadsa trips to the vets. First Dainty got a grass seed in her ear and had to have an operation. She had her booster jab at the same time and her top canines descaled. Then she had to go the next day because of an injury to her foot she drew my attention to when she came round from her op. Buster had to go for his booster at the same time and have his ears checked. Dainty’s foot was ok and Buster’s ears were bad so he had to have a course of drops like Dainty. After a week Dainty’s one ear was ok and the one she had the grass seed in was nearly right. Cost us nearly £260 with all the taxis as well. We changed flea product to Advantix this month as well so had 4 months supply of that from vet as well.

Buster's operation

A week ago Tuesday Buster ripped a dew claw. He went in and had it operated on on Thursday of that week. Saturday he had a check up but by Sunday he was limping. Later that week we took him back to the vets and he was put on a course of antibiotics. Really annoyed vet didn’t put him on a course to start after op. Yesterday we took him back to have staples out and he has a bandage on til Monday then it has to be removed. He’ll have to wear his big collar full time then instead of just at night.
Scratched left arm badly yesterday. God knows how. Wouldn’t be bad enough to register on British news although American news will prolly register it.

Girls in Poole

Ang went to Poole this morning and I walked to the station with her at 11.25. Took the dogs to backwaters and Buster snatched his treat again, biting my hand. Thankfully he didn’t draw blood this time but got to get him out the habit. Thought I’d cured it because he hadn’t done it for days after I did some work with him on 30th. I spent most of the day reading posts and replying on BBC forum. Martine rang after got back with dogs saying she couldn’t find Ang and would I ring her and tell her she was outside Argos. Managed to get Ang and Valerie and Ang met up with Martine. Rang Ang about 3 and she said she’d be about an hour then she rang at 4ish and said she was gunna stop longer. Took dogs out then decided to do this post. Hopefully Ang will ring soon and say she’s on way home.

Birthdays and blood

My sister had her birthday yesterday and Mum had hers today. I sent them both cards and chatted to Jane on-line and phoned Mum. Had an outbreak of fleas on dogs we noticed two days ago. Can’t understand it as only Frontlined them on the 11th March. Jane says Frontline doesn’t work always and advised me to use something else. Got to check with vet as Frontlined both on 27th again to try and sort problem just in case I misapplied first dose. On second walk today Buster snatched his treat and bit my thumb. Not deep but it bled quite a bit. I didn’t half shout at him. Were meant to go out with Helen and Graham today but we cancelled because of an argument we had last night and Ang didn’t feel well enough to go. She was very depressed. Hopefully she’ll feel better tomorrow as we made up quite quickly this morning

Forum down

Yesterday Martine came over and stayed quite a while. Lee turned up later with a lady friend called Jayne. They stayed a while and stopped the night at Ang’s. Got up just after 7.15 today. Got dogs out and Ang put coffee maker on. We both had coffee and watched news for a bit then took dogs to the backwater about 8.30. Went there via the shops and met Sheba, a black staffy. Thankfully we managed to avoid all the kids. Met a group of 5 various tiny dogs with 3 people. Tide was out but looked to be on way in. Couldn’t see many swans. Got back and fed dogs then had breakfast. Boiled egg, toast, coffee and orange juice. Put computer on and did charity clicks. Went to post the 3 replies I prepared yesterday and found the BBC forum is down for maintenance. It says it back about 7am. Does that mean not til tomorrow. Will have to find something else to occupy myself today. Got nothing happening on Richard Dawkins forum either. Lee and Jayne haven’t come over yet.

USA deaths

Last two days have been waking up really early. Today got woke just after 4. Got dogs out for a wee in the dark. Dainty had a poo. Will have to clean it up when it gets light. Came in and watched news. Yesterday afternoon in US someone went berserk and murdered many people. Am not really surprised because I don’t know when my blood sample would have been destroyed. I can’t positively connect them but am suspicious of there connection. It was the precise type of event I predicted on 17th February. Usually injuries to me are reflected in society within 48 to 72 hours. I based the time on 1 to 3 days before the sample was disposed of Ie when my blood died. If this was no correct and the sample has only recently been disposed of it would explain the delay. I simply do not know. Got a coffee maker delivered on Monday and some new jeans and trainers. Ang doesn’t like one pair of jeans I got as she says hey are like hoodies wear. When she said that I did a little rap and dance and made her laugh. Chatted to sister for a while when she came online at 6. After finished chatting to her I posted this.

It goes on.

Haven’t been able to get time alone to continue on Mugabe. Every time Ang plans to go out lately she ends up drinking and doesn’t go. Running really late with that now. 2 weeks overdue already. Got dogs out this morning and called in shops on way back. Saw storm just going for his walk as came away from the shops. Thankfully Buster didn’t see him. Ang really grumpy today. She missed going out with her friend, Aunt and sister yesterday. Had boiled egg and toast for breakfast. Ang had two eggs as well and a slice of toast. Dogs haven’t eaten yet today.

I saw the news

Was hopelessly out. News was full of loads of deaths after 5 days but not in US. Think the effect should have subsided by now as the blood should all be dead. Was surprised on the economic front that such a big loss got reported. Ang still drinking. Martine came around yesterday with a friend and Shadow.

Tuesday, 17 February 2009

Blood and money

Went for a blood test yesterday. Going by when the GP will get results expecting someone to go berserk in next 4 to 6 days now killing a few people. Let’s see what happens. Should be USA. Ang just finished a binge for 3 days so been stressful. The economy should not slide further for a short while. Up to six weeks before next major slip, hopefully.

Sunday poem

Wrote a poem on BBC forum today
How can be at peace with the Hindu
It’s simply what you do
You feed on their holy cow
Just you think now
How can you have peace with the Jew?
You know what you do
It’s pork to them you see
And what is it to me
The Lamb of God, so holy
Why can’t the world see?
Based on the Covenant of ARK
Covenant of ARK
Sent this after completed it to same forum entry
Second verse
But we let the monkey in the cage
Go under the knife in this age
Where’s it choice to go under the knife
It’ll be a quick death after a sad life
We see a greater good
If only I could
For we are so close on the tree
Then it not up to me
For human rights I don’t hold
That’s why I’m bold
I come from their level I find
That’s why I fight for my kind
From those you use to rise above
For those you exclude from love
Been waiting ages now for last 2 or 3 posts I’ve made today to appear. It’s bugging me. Doesn’t normally take this long.

Swans on the bay

Haven’t done much lately. Ang went to her Aunt’s a couple of times in the last two weeks, once with her sister. Yesterday I didn’t get up til 8.50 so we were late doing everything. Went down the backwaters about 9.30 and Ang had a go at me because I went via the shops. When we got back she apologised and said she hadn’t slept well last night. We went out for their second walk about 12.30 and went behind the factories where it’s flooded still so the dogs could play in the water. On the way back we counted 52 swans on Lychett Bay. We got back about 1.45 and I crashed out for an hour. At 3.20 we took the dogs to the boat beach for their last walk. Buster made friends with a little Jack Russell that was there with 3 lads by their boat. The tide was out quite a way though so we didn’t stop long. Today was really foggy when went out for first walk about 9. Buster met a spaniel but didn’t want to play.

Normal weather

Ang woke me at 4ish Monday morning. I got up at about 5.30 as couldn’t get back to sleep. Watched a bit of business news and then normal BBC 1. Read a bit of BBC forum. Tuesday evening Ang fell over in the kitchen. I heard a crash and found her sprawled out by the cooker with a small gash over her eye. She said she went dizzy and didn’t want to go to hospital. I got her back into the lounge and clean the cut up. The bleeding stopped after about 10 minutes and her eye had swollen up a little. Today we got up about 8 and managed to get the dogs on 3 walks. On the second one we went to the boat beach. The sea was frozen quite a way into the bay. Dainty still tried to go in but gave up after a while and left a trail of holes in the ice. Sister rang this evening. She forgot to lag pipes in new cattery at one place so now she’s got frozen pipes.

The year begins

Had a quiet new years eve. Went to bed about 10.30 as was tired. Phoned Mum new years day. Jane had fallen asleep so hadn’t phoned Mum either after midnight as we usually do. Had roast chicken thighs for dinner New Year’s Day with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, broccoli and home made Yorkshire pudding. Neither of us really enjoyed it because of the meat. Ang started drinking about 4am today so I’m stuck taking the dogs out on my own. There were over 30 swans down at the backwaters today. On their second walk we met some new dogs one of which was a deaf Scottie. On their third walk there were people playing football on the top field so we had to stay on the bottom two.
